We've spent a lot of time reflecting on the life of our Prophet over the past few days. I've been preparing the bulletin for our branch and I wanted to put a little tribute in it, so I've been surfing the internet and gathering quotes; some I had heard, others I had not. I wanted to post my favorites, since I couldn't put them all in the bulletin. How lucky we were to have him as our Prophet for such a long period of time. He's the only Prophet my children have known.
- "Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just like people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey ... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."
- "Be grateful. Be smart. Be clean. Be true. Be humble. Be prayerful.
- "Popularity ends on yearbook day, but respect lasts forever."
- "It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. i say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us,...if we put our trust in Him, if we pray to Him, if we live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
- "Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, but with great purpose in heart."
- "Do the best you can. And remember that the greatest asset you have in this world is those children who you've brought into the world, and for whose nurture and care you're responsible."
- "People wonder what we do for our women. I'll tell you what we do. We get out of their way and look with wonder at what they're accomplishing."
